EVERYONE is cordially invited to the next meeting of the New York Chapter of
the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) on Tuesday October
25th. Based in the Hudson Valley of New York state, the chapter now has 44 members
and is attracting more members from throughout its home state, as well as parts
of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Members of InterNACHI, SPREI, ASHI,
HICAG and NAHI attend. This monthly meeting is the home inspection event of the
Northeast. New and veteran home inspectors are all welcome-you need not be a
member of InterNACHI. Anyone interested in home inspections can attend. Dress casual
if you like, as our meetings are informal and fun, the way they should be. Spouses
welcome. Come hungry! We have arranged for a commercial Health insurance broker to come and speak at
our meeting about the constant battles for self-employed business owners lacking
the ability to procure Health insurance. Frank owns his own business with his
son and a few dedicated employees who are there to answer a phone when you have
questions. He has about 35 - 40 years experience with writing policies for all
sizes of business groups. I myself was in the same boat years ago as most Americans,
first with no insurance and then with a bottom of the barrel insurance HMO that
went bankrupt, risking coverage for treatment of a health problem I was going
through at that same time. My doctor told me that he could no longer accept their
coverage after that days visit. Talk about turning pale! Like a heaven sent gift,
I met Frank a day later and he literally drove 35 miles to meet with me and help
me get out from this rut. He gave me a few simple pieces of advice and I was able
to get my choice of Premium insurers to cover me, even with a pre-existing condition.
He will help to open your eyes and give you hope if you are uninsured.
I am sorry to announce that we will no longer accept unannounced walk-ins. Reservations
are mandatory. All attendees need to e-mail me at ttbi@mercurylink.net by Monday evening 9:00 p.m. Recently we have had a few reservations with no
show. As of this month, you will be responsible for payment of dinner expense.
This will be forwarded to the restaurant as they have prepared food based on reservations
announced by us. Thank you in advance for your participation.
Igor
Place: South Street Restaurant (Lower Hudson Valley of NY)
I would like to stress that this meeting is open to all Home Inspectors, affiliated to any organization or not. I will personally invite
the local Hudson Valley ASHI Chapter and NY Metro ASHI members via their secretaries.
I feel this is an important topic that many of us seek information about, only
to be dismayed.
There will be ample time to help any newcomers to the HI business with a question
and answer period.
Hope to see you all there!!!

I recommend you jump on the December courses since there may be actual in field portions weather permitting. It is too cold in Jan. or Feb. to do hands on field instruction. I will be taking both December courses myself. If you are interested, e-mail ttbi@mercurylink.net or call me (845)856-4102 and I can fax you the application. I will be staying overnight on the 10th for the first course session and found a Motel for $ 48.00 a night nearby. After class on the first day, I am willing to hold a round table discussion on Septic Systems at a local restaurant.Igor Smetaniuk
