December 27, 2010

RESNET and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work together to promote the improvement of the energy performance of existing homes.

The MOU’s goal is that the two organizations will work together to take advantage of the opportunities in the residential retrofit market.  InterNACHI and RESNET intend to partner to create an opportunity for InterNACHI members to become trained and certified to be RESNET Home Energy Survey Professionals.  Specific provisions of the agreement include:

  • InterNACHI will select RESNET accredited Home Energy Survey Provider(s) to offer training and certify InterNACHI members
  • InterNACHI will communicate to its members the benefits to being certified as Home Energy Survey Professionals
  • InterNACHI and RESNET will work with the U.S. Department of Energy in having InterNACHI members certified as Home Energy Professionals participate in the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Home Energy Score pilot programs
  • InterNACHI and RESNET will develop an action plan for incorporation of Home Energy Survey Professionals in the national roll out of the DOE Home Energy Score Program.
InterNACHI is a non-profit inspection association. The organization’s certified inspectors have all successfully passed InterNACHI’s Inspector Examination, taken a Standards of Practice Quiz, completed a Code of Ethics Course, adhere to Standards of Practice, abide by a Code of Ethics, attend required continuing education courses, and are InterNACHI Certified.
