Mold Courses for Florida

To Whom It May Concern:

Several of InterNACHI’s online and online video courses are either partly or entirely mold-related.  Proper mold assessment requires a holistic approach and relies on an understanding of mold, condensation, ventilation, drywall, HVAC, humidifiers, plumbing, moisture, climate, rot, flashing, surface drainage, exhausts, building practices, stack effect, roofing, downspouts, gutters, grading, sump pumps, crawlspaces, foundations, waterproofing systems, indoor air, insulation, building envelopes, vapor barriers, lab report interpretation, etc.

The following chart reflects a few of InterNACHI’s courses that help with this understanding.  The chart also lists the portion of each course that could be considered directly related to mold assessment.

The following quote is from the Florida DBPR website stating that mold-related courses are accepted:

"Any educational institution that provides education in mold-related services would be acceptable.
An applicant would need to submit course-completion certificates to verify their hours.
"
Members wanting to use InterNACHI's mold-related courses for grandfathering should include a copy of this web page with their application, along with a copy of each of their Certificates of Completion.

If you don't have 60 hours of mold courses completed, you should apply anyway, and the DBPR has agreed to keep your application open until you get your courses done. Visit this message board thread for an update on this matter.
