Welcome to InterNACHI's free, online "Meth House Hazards and Remediation Course." This course is provided by our accredited college at internachi.edu.
If you observe indications of the presence of methamphetamine in a building, immediately:
The goal of this course is to teach home inspectors about methamphetamine hazards in buildings to keep themselves and building occupants safe during a home inspection. This course does not train or certify home inspectors to identify, sample, confirm or remediate methamphetamine hazards.
Upon successful completion of this course, the home inspector will be able to:
Because a home inspector is not a certified industrial hygienist, the inspector will not actually be responsible for performing a meth contamination inspection, providing analysis, or participating in the remediation process. Home inspectors are not certified to identify, sample, confirm or remediate methamphetamine hazards.
As of 2015, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) does not regulate the cleanup of meth labs; the priorities for such cleanups are set by state and local laws. As such, concerns related to environmental hazards should be left to the discretion of the state and local jurisdiction.
