Continuing Education Courses (free & online for members)
To remain on active status, the South Dakota-licensed/registered home inspector must complete 24 hours of approved Continuing Education by December 31 of the year his/her license/registration expires. Scroll down this page or click here to view InterNACHI's course approvals.
The following Continuing Education courses are approved by the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation, and they're online and free for members:
InterNACHI has been approved by the South Dakota Real Estate Commission to provide licensed real estate agents with free, online Continuing Education. InterNACHI members can order free informational cards that provide simple instructions for agents to access the free, online courses approved by the state. When a real estate professional logs into a course and enters the InterNACHI member's ID number, the member will be automatically notified by email. The first slide of the course includes the member's contact information.
Radon Tester Certification (online & free for members)
Though South Dakota does not regulate individuals who perform radon testing, measurement, and mitigation the South Dakota Department of Environment & Natural Resources recommends that homeowners hire a certified radon tester who has completed a radon measurement certification course approved by either the NRPP or the NRSB. The Home Energy Score is similar to a vehicle's miles-per-gallon rating, and any qualified inspector in the U.S. can generate a Home Energy Score in less than an hour.
The Home Energy Score provides:
a score on a scale of 1 to 10;
facts about the home and its energy use; and
recommendations generated by the U.S. Department of Energy to improve the score and energy efficiency.
