Home Inspector Certificate Program


InterNACHI® School is an accredited home inspector college (internachi.edu). InterNACHI® School offers a nationally accredited, college-level Home Inspector Certificate Program to InterNACHI® members for free. To enroll in the one-year program, the individual must join InterNACHI® as a member. The student will receive a Certificate of Completion from InterNACHI® School by completing the program. PROGRAM GOAL

The goal of the Home Inspector Certificate Program is for the graduate to gain and develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to complete the required tasks of a Certified Professional Inspector CPI® outlined in the Home Inspector Job Task Analysis (JTA), perform a home inspection, and write a home inspection report. The training and education offered is not a guarantee or assurance of employment. 


PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

The graduate will be able to competently perform a general home inspection according to the Home Inspector Standards of Practice, including how to: 

  • follow a Standards of Practice for performing a home inspection;
  • make observations during the visual inspection of a home;
  • identify and describe systems and components in a home;
  • activate the home’s systems to determine functionality;
  • evaluate and describe the condition of the systems inspected; and
  • write an inspection report based on the observations made during the inspection.


PROGRAM ENROLLMENT PREREQUISITES

Students seeking to enroll in the Home Inspector Certificate Program must be certified by InterNACHI® by completing the InterNACHI® home inspector certification requirements as a prerequisite. Those inspector certification prerequisites are: 

  1. Pass the Online Home Inspector Exam with an 80% or better.
  2. Join InterNACHI® as a member.
  3. Complete the InterNACHI® Code of Ethics Course.
  4. Complete the InterNACHI® Standards of Practice Course.
  5. Submit four mock inspection reports.
  6. Sign the enrollment agreement (affidavit) after completing the previous 5 prerequisites.

The student will qualify to enroll in the Home Inspector Certificate Program by completing the previous six prerequisites. The program does not certify or license the student. Students should contact their local government to comply with state or provincial regulations. Individuals who enroll in the program are already InterNACHI-certified inspectors. The program provides a college-level certificate of completion along with a transcript.

CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL INSPECTOR CPI®

To become an InterNACHI® Certified Professional Inspector CPI®, InterNACHI® members must complete the InterNACHI® Home Inspector Certification Requirements.
