Why is the metal roof rippled and what problems does it cause?
a. Manufacturing defect, variations in metal thickness causes asymmetrical expansion and contraction. Will eventually cause fatigue and surface cracking allowing moisture intrusion and corrosion.
b. Over-driven concealed fasteners may eventually cause crevice corrosion.
c. Manufacturing defect, difference in length from one side of the coil to the other. Cosmetic problem only.
d. Buckling during installation by careless installers. Will worsen with time. Cosmetic only.
