No nails are installed in the bottom flange of this hanger. Is this a defective installation?
a. It depends on the application. When used as rafters, the bottom flange should be nailed to resist uplift. When used as floor joists or ceiling joists, it need not be nailed.
b. Yes, all nail holes should be filled.
c. No. It is designed to hold against uplift without nails.
