Ice Barrier and Ice Dam

The ice barrier extends from the edge of the roof (eave) upward to a point at least 24 inches (610 mm) inside the exterior wall line of the building. By covering the roof deck with an impermeable layer, the ice barrier provides a secondary line of defense against water intrusion.
