Light Fixture In Clothes Closet

Exposed incandescent bulbs in clothes closets are a fire hazard and have been prohibited for years. Older homes may still have keyless lampholders or fixtures with pull chains in closets. Even if compact fluorescent or LED bulbs are used, exposed bulbs remain unsafe. Items in closets can come into contact with exposed lamps, risking fire or breakage, which may ignite a fire. This illustration helps show clearances between fixtures and storage spaces. Some LED luminaires are specifically designed and listed for installation within closet storage spaces.
