Surface Drainage

The surface drainage must be diverted away from the building by sloping the ground surface down and away from the building. The grade should fall (or slope downward) at least 6 inches (152 mm) within the first 10 feet (3048 mm). There is an exception that allows the use of drains and swales because of the property line or a physical barrier.
