Foundation Failure: Tree Root

Tree roots may cause foundations to crack by pushing against the foundation from the outside. Roots can penetrate a building's foundation through pre-existing cracks and cause foundation movement. Large root systems that extend beneath a house can cause foundation structural uplift. Roots can leech water from the soil beneath foundations, causing the structures to settle and sink unevenly.
