Toe Nail, Face Nail, and End Nail

Toe Nailing: A method where nails are driven at an angle through the face or edge of one piece of wood into the end of another, typically used to secure studs to plates or headers. Face Nailing: A technique where nails are driven perpendicular through the face of one board into the face of another, often used to attach doubled studs, sheathing, and decking. End Nailing: A method where nails are driven directly into the end grain of one board into the face of another, commonly used to join wall plates to studs.
