Session #1 - Pool Inspections 101 (Curt Straub)
In this session Curt will help home inspectors understand basic functions and components to ensure pools are safe and discuss current code requirements.
Curt Straub, President of Aquatic Consultants has been involved in the pool industry since 1962 both as a pool builder and consultant on pool design, etc. He has done expert witness and mediation in pool litigations. Curt is a present or previous member of leading associations such as: the American Concrete Institute ( he is past Chairman Swimming Pools Committee and past Kansas Chapter Board of Direction, and Curt has served in offices such as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-President, President, and he is a Certified Field Technician. He has been a Board Member of the Heartland Mediators Association; and been a Builder and Board of Director of the Master Pools Guild; and on the Board of Directors of the National Spa and Pool Institute Central States Chapter.

2) Common Residential Roofing Types (composition, wood, tile, metal and
low slope types like EDPM, TPO, Modified Bitumen, BUR, etc).
3) Common Installation or Defect Problems Seen in a Roof Inspection
4) The More Likely Moisture Intrusion Areas (flashings, roof protrusions, etc)
5) Factors Affecting the Performance and Lifespan of a Roof
6) Types of Roofing Damage (Hail, Weather, Age, Mfg Defects)
7) Critical Installation Details and Defect Report Recommendations
