Another home inspection school requires membership in InterNACHI

PRESS RELEASE:  InterNACHI’s exams and courses, as have been adopted by the Ministry of Education, now being  used as part of the training offered by all of the facilities of Certified Adult Training Services (CATS).

In order for students to receive their Certificate they must pass all of the InterNACHI exams, courses and each procured exam in order to pass the Advanced Home Inspection Course offered by CATS.  The Advanced Home Inspection Course offered by CATS is an in-depth course with emphasis on “Hands-on-Training” in excess of 200 hours.  This course covers everything from century old, to modern homes.  Both city and rural inspections are covered.  This course is taught by professional, accredited Home Inspectors, who are InterNACHI Certified and are members in good standing.  This course is approved for continuing education credits by InterNACHI.  The course consists of 12 modules,

  1. Orientation:  An insight to the home inspection industry as well as all the professional associations.
  2. Law:  The laws regarding home inspectors and the industry.
  3. Tools and Safety:  Tools of the industry. Safety concerns for you and your client.
  4. Structural:  Learn how a home is built from the bottom up. Both century and modern homes.
  5. Plumbing:  The good ,bad and ugly of Plumbing supply and distribution. City & Rural
  6. Mechanical:  An inside look at Heating & Air-Conditioning. R.U.S.T. Ventilation.
  7. Electrical:  Understanding Electricity. From the old to the new, supply & distribution.
  8. Building Science:  The house as a whole system. How it works and why.
  9. Defect Recognition:  This is scheduled into each module.
  10. Client Appreciation and Understanding:  How to qualify and talk to your client.
  11. Report Writing:  Understanding inspection reports, how to describe and write your findings.
  12. Mock Inspections:  Students will be shown how to conduct a proper inspection and will participate in mock inspections. Mock inspections will be graded.

Although each module has proctored written exams, the final exam is also proctored and consists of a four hour written exam and a final inspection.  All students must be a Member of InterNACHI and achieve an overall passing grade of 75% in order to qualify for their final Certificate.  CATS provides the first year InterNACHI Membership for qualified students.
