Buford Pushes for InterNACHI Representation on
Kentucky Board of Home Inspectors
Frankfort, Ky. -
State Senator Tom Buford (R-Nicholasville) has pledged to file legislation for the next General Assembly Session that would require the Kentucky Board of Home Inspectors (KBHI) to include at least one member of the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI)."InterNACHI, which is the world's largest non-profit inspection association, requires its members to stay current through continuing education and has the largest, most comprehensive set of guidelines available to inspectors," Buford said. "It seems to me that ensuring one of our KBHI members also belongs to InterNACHI would strengthen our organization."
The Kentucky Board of Home Inspectors was created by the 2004 General Assembly along with requiring home inspectors to be licensed. The board will oversee the licensing administration, standards and disputes involving certified home inspectors. The legislation was written to protect homebuyers, as a home is one of the largest lifetime investments a person makes.
The International Association of Certified Home Inspectors has a yearly convention, and offers free home inspection training seminars and courses throughout the United States. InterNACHI helps home inspectors maintain inspection excellence, including members in all 50 states and internationally in 21 countries, with more than 9,400 inspectors worldwide.
