FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BOULDER, Colo. (July 25, 2024) – The International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI®) welcomes Jennifer H. Ashton of Ashton Advocacy Consulting to spearhead its advocacy efforts on behalf of all Florida home inspectors.
Ms. Ashton will be helping InterNACHI® advocate for more funding for the My Safe Florida Home Program. The Florida Department of Financial Services recently awarded InterNACHI® a multi-million dollar contract to provide services under the program. She was instrumental in helping legislators with the program in the past.
Ms. Ashton will also be helping InterNACHI's efforts to nearly double the pre-licensing requirements for the State of Florida, increasing the number of InterNACHI® course hours required from 120 to 200. She will also eventually help InterNACHI® with the adoption of a more rigorous state licensing exam that staff and members are currently developing.
And, finally, Ms. Ashton will be helping InterNACHI's legislative efforts to increase the criminal penalties for the fraudulent use of the term "university." The use of the term "university" is regulated in all 50 states and InterNACHI® is the only school in the inspection industry accredited by the U.S. Department of Education.
Prior to opening Ashton Advocacy Consulting, Ms. Ashton served as an in-house lobbyist for Frontline Insurance as their Legislative Director. For several years before that, she served as a legislative aide in the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate. She attended the University of South Florida where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Psychology, and went on to earn an MBA in 2020 at Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management. Ms. Ashton is also the youngest Executive Board Member for the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida, serving as the board's Vice Chair.
