How to Become a Registered Home Inspector in Arkansas

Home Inspector Registration

To become a registered home inspector in Arkansas, you must complete an approved 80-hour classroom course and pass a state exam for home inspectors. At this time, InterNACHI does not currently have training scheduled.
To prepare for the state exam, you can take InterNACHI's Online Home Inspector Exam (free), take the InterNACHI State Exam Prep Course (free for members), and take InterNACHI's online courses (free for members).  
  
 

Insurance for Inspectors

To be a licensed home inspector in Arkansas, individuals must meet certain requirements for adequate insurance coverage. InterNACHI members are eligible for discounts and enhanced coverage. Visit nachi.org/insurance for information on how to sign up.
 

 

Free, Online Continuing Education Courses

Arkansas Home Inspection Board (AHIB) requires home inspectors to take Continuing Education to renew their license.

Arkansas Home Inspection Board (AHIB) approves approves InterNACHI® as a provider of free, online education courses for home inspectors in Arkansas. View AHIB approval of InterNACHI®.

As a condition of Arkansas registration renewal, each inspector shall complete 14 hours of Continuing Education during the training year preceding submission of his/her renewal application. 6 hours may be online, 8 hours must be completed in person.

Radon Tester Certification in Arkansas (online & free)

      
The Arkansas Department of Health does not certify, license or register individuals to perform radon testing or radon mitigation. Therefore, it's very important to market yourself as a Certified Radon Tester. Arkansas recommends that individuals who perform radon testing take NRPP-approved radon training. NRPP:
InterNACHI's free, online Radon Measurement Professional Initial Training Course  is AARST-NRPP-approved for both initial certification and Continuing Education. To complete all components of the NRPP Radon Certification, please visit their site for more information.  
 
NRSB:
InterNACHI's free, online Radon Measurement Professional Initial Training Course is NRSB-approved for initial certification. For those looking for NRSB continuing education, members should take the free, online "Advanced Radon Measurement Service Provider" course.

 


 

Wood-Destroying Organisms (online & free)



The Arkansas Agriculture Department requires thats inspectors be licensed as a private, commercial, or non-commercial pesticide applicators by the state. To become a commercial or non-commercial pesticide applicator you must take and pass the Basic Core Exam and category specific exams required for the type of license you need. Training is not required before taking the exams but is available and recommended. InterNACHI offers courses in wood-destroying organisms that may be beneficial for those looking to obtain this license in Arkansas.
